Nikon cameras are known for their durability, making them perfect for the rigors of travel. Their extensive range of lenses and accessories also allows for great versatility, adapting to various shooting conditions and styles. A major reason why I love to use a Nikon DSLR camera and lens during travel for the best shots.
Today, I want to share some of my favorite camera’s for travel and the lenses I use for my travel photography or just everyday use and how I capture the beautiful places in the world.
Best Nikon Camera for your Family Vacation or Travel Photography
To begin, you need to have a good camera, and in my opinion, Nikon is the way to go. Nikon is renowned for its exceptional image quality and robust build, making it a best choice for both professional photographers and moms who want to take the best pictures on their family vacation. Its advanced technology, extensive lens lineup, and user-friendly interface ensure superior performance and versatility in various shooting conditions.
Personally, I look for a good quality full frame camera. Click on the link to read more about this camera. This Nikon comes in with a hefty price. It is worth the money, but keep in mind that for this price, it is the camera body only. You will still need to purchase a lens.
Here is another camera option:
Now if you don’t have a $2000 budget for only a camera body, I would suggest a kit similar to this. If you are new to photography and/or plan to use a camera for your kids and day-to-day life, this will give you good quality pictures without the hefty price tag. It comes with 2 lenses and the body for a great deal.
The Best Nikon Camera Lens for Travel or Family Vacation
Lenses always surprise me. They can be so expensive, but if you are in it for really good quality photography, then a good lens is the best investment you can make. I love my 50 mm Nikon lens the best for travel or any other occasion.
The key to this 50mm lens is that low f-stop of 1.4. That is the “f/1.4G” in the title. When this number is low, you get more “bokeh”. That is the blurriness in the background of a picture. I am a bokeh lover and this lens is my all time favorite. It does not zoom in or out, so keep that in mind.
Looking for a wide zoom range lens at a better price? I have had good luck with Tamron Lenses in the past. Just make sure you get the lens for your brand of camera. Tamron makes lenses for multiple brands.
My general thoughts… A good camera is NOT necessary for your travel adventures. Your iPhone has the capabilities to take good photos. But if you want GREAT photos, if you want to edit and post your best shots, then a good camera for travel in tow is a must!
Don’t forget your camera bag!
I use a bag like this. I love the adjustable walls that allow my to customize the pocket size. It’s padded, creating good protection. And I prefer a backpack style, because it is better on my back when lugging around heavy equipment all day.
